Struggling with Chronic Gut Issues? How I Finally Got My Symptoms Under Control

Chronic gut issues are a huge pain! I've tried just about every trick to manage painful bloating and cramping —from over-the-counter supplements (Gas-X, I'm looking at you!) to restrictive diets to home remedies my MIL forwards me over Whatsapp—nothing worked. So when I came across Noo Gut, I immediately thought, 'Here we go again.' Yet, I can't lie—I was curious. I had tried a few probiotic supplements before, but never one with supportive TCM herbs. After a particularly painful flare-up, I thought, 'What the heck' and decided to give it a shot. This is my 4 week experience. P.S.: It's not what I imagined at all.

Today, we will discuss a very sexy topic: our gut health. If you’re someone who deals with complex chronic gut issues(eg SIBO or IBS), you know how challenging it is to find something that provides long-term relief.

Since I was a teenager, I would end up at the hospital for seemingly random gut-related episodes. One time, what I thought was an asthma attack ended up just being an embarrassing cause of constipation. A CT scan showed my bowels were so stopped up they were pressing on my lungs, causing the shortness of breath I had mistaken for asthma. Another instance comes to mind where, after a group dinner at a local seafood restaurant, I ended up in the ER with food poisoning so severe I had to be put on IV fluids. Nobody else at the dinner got sick.

After countless doctors struggled to make a formal diagnosis, I finally ended up in the generic bucket of 'chronic gut issues' in my early twenties. My symptoms range from mild bloating and belching to cycles of severe constipation and diarrhea, which would often leave me fatigued for days. Since then, it has been a constant merry-go-round of restrictive diets and supplements in the hope that one of them would be the savior I had been looking for. Spoiler alert: they were not.

That didn’t stop me from trying, though! I have tested just about every popular supplement on the market. While some offered some relief, often, I could not justify the hefty price tags. If I am paying US$80+ per month, that supplement better be GOOD!

Introducing Noo Gut by NOOCI

In one of my flare-up-induced searching sprees, I stumbled upon Noo Gut by Nooci. The blend of clinically backed ingredients, TCM herbs, and a particular postbiotic I had heard a lot aboutTributyrincaught my attention. At US$55 per month, it’s definitely an investment (as most gut health supplements are). While doing my due diligence (I was spending US$55 after all!), there was one particular review I came across that stood out to me.

I mean, hello! That's me in a nutshell. So I decided to take the leap, and you, lucky reader, get to reap the benefits. I’ll share what I experienced, how it compares to other products, and whether Noo Gut might be something worth investing in.

The Probiotic Dilemma

If you’re reading this, you probably know that most probiotics can actually make chronic gut issues worse. Our microbiomes are made of a delicate balance of bacteria that each play a role in the digestive process. When one particular strain grows out of control and migrates from our large intestine to our small intestine, it causes symptoms ranging from mild bloating to severe malnutrition and food sensitivities. This is why we need to be careful that the probiotics we take do not further encourage the growth of ‘bad’ bacteria, but rather support the strains of probiotics that have been suppressed.

I have tried raved-about probiotics like DS-01® Daily Synbiotic by Seed (US$49.99 per month) and Synbiotic+ by Ritual (US$54 per month)they only made my symptoms worse. Now, not to bash on these productsthey work incredibly well for some people. However, I suspect they actually fed the overgrown bacteria in my small intestine, leading to more bloating, gas, and pain.

What Makes Noo Gut Different (and Why It’s Great for Chronic Gut Issues)

I was 80% convinced Noo Gut would end up causing the same issues as all the other supplements I had tried. However, there was one thing that gave me hope; Noo Gut claims to go beyond a standard probiotic approach. Rather than just dumping a bunch of probiotics and prebiotics in your system, it combines targeted ingredients that work together to tackle inflammation, support gut barrier health, and alleviate bloating. Or so they say.

I can't deny, though, that some of the ingredients in Noo Gut looked interesting! Especially

  • CoreBiome® Tributyrin: This postbiotic is a key player in Noo Gut, designed to reach the colon intact. CoreBiome® strengthens the gut lining, reduces inflammation, and helps promote gut resilience. A postbiotic is a byproduct of probiotics when they eat prebiotics. They release substances called antimicrobial peptides that help slow down the growth of harmful bacteria and prevent gut flare ups. I had read a LOT about this ingredient, and was pretty optimistic about it's benefits.
  • Cassia Seed: Cassia seed is known for its anti-inflammatory and calming properties. Cassia seed provides a gentle, natural way to manage symptoms like bloating and cramping after meals. It has been used as a digestive supplement in Traditional Chinese Medicine for millennia, and recent studies have shown Cassia Seed slows down the growth of harmful bacteria in the gut. Despite being from Singapore, I never fully subscribed to the TCM hype. But, I had never tried Cassia seed before, and it didn't look like anything that would wreak too much havoc if it didn't end up working.
  • Probiotic Strains (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium Animalis Lactis): These probiotic strains are carefully chosen to support digestion, ease symptoms, and work to keep the gut microbiome balanced without feeding harmful bacteria in the small intestine—a crucial consideration for those with bacterial overgrowth. I actually take Lactobacillus on a daily basis, and it's one of the one few probiotic strains that does not cause any negative side effects.

Noo Gut actually contains 13 clinically tested ingredients for supportive gut health, claiming to tackle both immediate symptoms like bloating, gas, and cramping, as well as long-term goals like strengthening the gut lining and supporting a healthy microbiome. Sounds awesome on paper, but does it actually work? Let's find out.

Taking Noo Gut for 4 Weeks: Is it Worth It?

To give Noo Gut a real shot, I changed nothing else in my gut health routine, keeping my diet and rituals the same. The only thing I did was eliminate any overlapping supplements—I was already taking Lactobacillus. To avoid too much of a good thing, I paused taking it for this experiment.

As you know, I’ve tried countless gut health supplements, so I went into this with a healthy dose of skepticism. After all, most “solutions” either didn’t help or, worse, made my symptoms flare up more. However, Noo Gut pleasantly surprised me, especially going into week 3!

Week 1: Less Bloating, Maybe?

As recommended, I started with two capsules a day to ease into it. I was bracing myself for the typical "starter bloat" and other side effects, but on the contrary, I actually noticed less bloating and gas after meals. I'm not sure if I can attribute this entirely to Noo Gut or if it's just the evening walks I recently started taking after dinner, but it's still a good start!

Week 2: A Little Bit of the Runs

By the end of the second week, I noticed a few subtle improvements. Meals that usually leave me bloated were digesting more comfortably, and I felt slightly less "puffy" overall. I was struggling a little bit with loose stools during this period. It's not uncommon for me to swing between constipation and diarrhea—but it's something to keep an eye on.

Weeks 3–4: Pooping Like Clockwork

Those loose stools in week 2? I suspect that was just my body clearing out old waste because starting from week 3, my bowel movements became the most regular they have ever been in years. The usual discomfort, bloating, and cramping that came with every meal seemed to disappear. Even after indulging in a few slices of Pizza Hut (I know, don't shame me), there is no discomfort! Now, I am not going to pretend like I NEVER got bloated—there was undoubtedly some gas here and there, but the difference really was night and day.

My only gripe is that the product only comes in capsule form (I hate taking pills). Noo Gut, if you ever make a sachet or drink format, you've got yourself a convert!

On the left—my typical bloating after a meal. On the right—after taking Noo Gut for 3 weeks (you can even see my abs!)

Final Verdict: Get Yourself On Some Noo Gut!

The final verdict? It 100% worked for me. It's not an instant fix, but I do believe Noo Gut's comprehensive approach of gut rebalancing pre, pro, and postbiotics combined with supportive herbs allowed me to finally heal my digestive system, not just mask the symptoms.

I will not pretend that US$55 is not a lot of money. It absolutely is, so you'll need to decide whether it's an investment you are ready to make. However, after the thousands of dollars spent at the doctor's office, countless failed supplements and medications, and the (excuse my dramaticism) excruciating pain gut issues can cause, the US$55 is well worth it to me!

Plus, if it doesn't work for you, you can always return it for a full refund within 30 days due to their satisfaction guarantee (even if your bottle is empty!), so there is really no risk in giving it a try!
