From Constantly Constipated to Pooping like a Pro: How I Did It

Can't even look at food without getting backed up? I get it. I've tried just about every remedy to get my bowels working regularly — from over-the-counter solutions (Metamucil, I'm looking at you!) to home remedies like prunes and papaya. Nothing has worked. So when I came across Noo Gut, a 3-in-1 gut health solution leveraging Traditional Chinese Medicine herbs, I wasn't particularly hopeful. But after yet another evening straining on the toilet in frustration, I decided to give it a shot.

Today, we will discuss a very sexy topic: poop. If you're someone who deals with chronic constipation, you know how challenging it is to find something that provides long-term relief.

For as long as I can remember (I'm 32), I have struggled with endless constipation. In a good week, I poop around once every 3 days, with the stools being hard like rocks and difficult to pass. I'd watch my husband in envy as he enjoys his daily toilet break at exactly 10:30AM. How dare he take such a luxury for granted.

After not being able to go for over 2 weeks and the pressure in my abdomen reaching a breaking point, there have been times I have *gasp* reached for an enema. The result would be an hour of excruciating cramps and a violent emptying of my bowels. These episodes would leave me absolutely drained. And god, the smell. It's almost unbearable. But at least I felt light once again.

You'd think that constipation this severe would be taken seriously by the medical community. Yet, after countless visits to doctors and specialists, the advice was always the same: eat fiber, exercise, stay hydrated, and don't build a reliance on habit-forming OTC medications like Dulcolax. For the $500+ I spent on these visits, I could have gotten that from WebMD. Turns out I wasn't alone. Up to 27% of adults in the US suffer from chronic constipation.

So, long story short, my adult life has been a constant merry-go-round of home remedies, diet changes, and supplements in the hope that one of them would be the savior I had been looking for. Spoiler alert: they were not.

That didn't stop me from trying, though! I have tested just about every popular constipation supplement on the market. While some offered some relief, often, I could not justify the hefty price tags. If I am paying US$80+ per month, that supplement better make me poop like clockwork!

Introducing Noo Gut by NOOCI

During yet another toilet marathon, I stumbled upon Noo Gut by NOOCI.

But Claudia, you ask me, if you've tried everything, how did you get suckered into buying yet another gut supplement? Well, after spending another 30 minutes on the toilet only to be rewarded with pebble poops, I wasn't exactly rational with my credit card. :)

On the other hand, Noo Gut by NOOCI takes a more holistic approach than other supplements I've tried. It combines probiotics, postbiotics, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbs used for gut health for generations. I was cautiously hopeful that it wouldn't just temporarily relieve my constipation but finally achieve that elusive dream—regular bowel movements.

At US$55 per month, it's definitely an investment (like most gut health supplements). And while doing my due diligence, I came across one particular review that stood out to me.

So I decided to take the leap, and you, lucky reader, reap the benefits. I'll share what I experienced, how it compares to other products, and whether Noo Gut might be worth investing in.

What I Have Tried So Far

If you're someone who struggles with chronic constipation, you probably know that the issue isn't simple—and, unfortunately, most supplements on the market tend to only treat the symptoms.

Laxatives: Don't Get Reliant!

If you are constipated, you KNOW that it's so tempting to reach for the Dulcolax when things are not moving along. Stimulant laxatives, such as senna, bisacodyl, and castor oil, directly stimulate the intestines' muscles to promote bowel movements. Over time, the muscles can become reliant on this artificial stimulation to pass stools. On the other hand, Osmotic laxatives, such as magnesium citrate or polyethylene glycol, draw water into the intestines to soften stools. The bowel may start to rely on the increased water content to pass stool. This can reduce the intestines' ability to absorb and process water naturally, worsening constipation when the laxative is not used.

The Probiotic Dilemma

I have tried raved-about probiotics like DS-01® Daily Synbiotic by Seed (US$49.99 per month) and Synbiotic+ by Ritual (US$54.00 per month). Now, not to bash on these products—they work incredibly well for some people.

However, I have found that probiotics alone were often not enough to get me to the toilet regularly. Especially if you take a lot of fiber to keep things moving, probiotics can cause gas and bloating by triggering excess fermentation in the gut.

What about Fiber?

Fiber is essential, but too much fiber can actually make constipation worse. Especially if you don't keep up with your water intake, it can bulk up and dry out in the intestines, creating hard stools that are difficult to pass. Most of us get enough fiber through foods, so taking additional supplements can do more harm than good.

How Is Noo Gut Different (Or Not)?

I was 80% convinced Noo Gut would end up causing the same issues as all the other supplements I had tried. However, one thing gave me (cautious) hope; Noo Gut combines elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with scientifically backed ingredients that aim to tackle constipation more holistically. Instead of just piling on more bacteria or fiber, it takes a layered approach to support the gut environment as a whole, which should theoretically tackle the root cause of constipation.

I can't deny, though, that some of the ingredients in Noo Gut looked interesting! Especially

  • Cassia Seed: Cassia seed is a staple in TCM and is known for its anti-inflammatory and calming effects on the digestive system. It has been used as a gut support supplement for thousands of years. It helps soothe the stomach, reducing the feeling of fullness and gas that often follows meals. Unlike fiber supplements that simply bulk up your digestive tract, Cassia seed is a mild laxative that encourages digestion without the risk of reliance.
  • CoreBiome® Tributyrin: This postbiotic is formulated to reach the colon intact, strengthening the gut lining and reducing inflammation—two crucial aspects of bloating relief. A healthy gut lining improves gut motility and reduces the buildup of toxins that slow digestion, helping things move more smoothly.
  • Probiotic Strains (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium Animalis Lactis): These specific strains are carefully selected to support digestion without triggering excessive gas production. They promote a balanced gut microbiome, reducing the likelihood of bloating that can occur from bacterial overgrowth. Unlike many generic probiotics, which left me bloated and uncomfortable, Noo Gut's strains should theoretically support healthy digestion with minimal risk of upsetting the gut.

Noo Gut uses other TCM herbs that are meant to clear constipation in its formulation. I tend to be skeptical of TCM since a lot of the remedies are not scientifically backed. However, NOOCI went out of their way to only use TCM ingredients that have been clinically tested for effectiveness. The blend is quite comprehensive so if you want to learn more about their ingredients and their scientific backing, you can take a look here.

Taking Noo Gut for 4 Weeks: Is it Worth It?

As you know, I've tried countless constipation relief supplements, so I went into this with a healthy dose of skepticism. After all, most "solutions" either didn't help or, worse, made my symptoms flare up more. However, Noo Gut pleasantly surprised me, especially going into week 3!

Week 1

I started with two capsules daily, as recommended. I definitely wasn't expecting miracles right away, and I was bracing myself for the "starter bloat" that new supplements sometimes cause. Surprisingly, Noo Gut was very effective in clearing up bloat fast, similar to 'quick fix' capsules like Arrae Bloat. I wasn't getting less bloated just yet, but if I took a capsule after a meal, the bloat episodes did not last as long and were less intense.

Week 2

By the second week, I felt lighter after meals, without the usual heavy bloating. Meals that used to leave me feeling heavy, gassy, and 'puffy' were easier to digest. I did struggle a little bit with loose stools during this period, a common side effect of starting a new supplement. I took a bit of soluble fiber, which cleared it up within 2-3 days.

Weeks 3–4: Eating without Fear

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am having regular, comfortable bowel movements for the first time in years. A big bonus: I was even shedding the water weight my body was stubbornly holding on to. Even after a heavy meal, I wasn't left with days of constipation. Even after indulging in a few slices of Pizza Hut (I know, don't shame me), I didn't end up constipated for days! Now, I am not going to pretend I poop like clockwork—some stools were still harder to pass than others, but the difference really was night and day.

My only gripe is that the product only comes in capsule form (I hate taking pills). Noo Gut, if you ever make a sachet or drink format, you've got me for life!

Final Verdict: Get Yourself On Some Noo Gut!

The final verdict? It 100% worked for me. It's not an instant fix, but I do believe Noo Gut's comprehensive approach of gut rebalancing pre, pro, and postbiotics combined with supportive herbs allowed me to finally heal my digestive system, not just mask the symptoms.

I will not pretend that US$55 is not a lot of money. It absolutely is, so you'll need to decide whether it's an investment you are ready to make. However, after the hundreds of dollars spent at the doctor's office, countless failed supplements and medications, and the (excuse my dramaticism) extreme frustration dealing with chronic constipation, the US$55 is well worth it to me!

Plus, if it doesn't work for you, you can always return it for a full refund within 30 days due to their satisfaction guarantee  (even if your bottle is empty!), so there is really no risk in giving it a try!
